A few weeks ago Brandon watched a Curious George episode about donuts before preschool. He asked Jim if they could stop and get a donut on the way to school. Jim figured that he asked nicely and it'd be a special, one-time treat. The convenience store he stopped at thinking they sold Krispy Kreme did not have them, but they did have the packages of six powdered sugar donuts. Brandon agreed those would suffice and they puchased them and went on their way.
Brandon tends to get stuck on ideas and I'll take the blame on that b/c he gets that trait from me! So, this has not turned out to be a one-time thing at all :) My mom and Jim's mom have been helping me out by taking him and picking him up from preschool. He has learned that if he asks very nicely they will stop and get him donuts. My mom said the lady that works there, Sherye, knows him by name now and will say "Coming to get your donuts, Brandon?" and he'll smile and say yes. My mom will help him count out the money to pay and he feels quite proud.
I know those aren't the best thing for him to eat but I focus on the cuteness of him asking and how excited he gets...and, on him feeling special and having those fun memories with his grandmothers.
